Considered to be Bigg Boss Marathi second season’s strongest contestant ‘Devyani’ fame actress Shivani Surve recently spoke about her struggle to make ends meet in front of the whole Maharashtra. Even getting food to her table was difficult at some point in her life! She also worked very hard to fulfill her mother’s dream of having a home near the sea!
Shivani hails from Chiplun but she was brought up in Dombivli, she says “I entered the acting profession accidentally. My parents held an exhibition near to Shivajimandir Natyagruha (in Dadar). There Manohar Nare gave me an opportunity in his play ‘Mangalyache Lene’. I used to travel from Dombivli through local trains, once I had to spend one whole night at railway platform alongside my grandmother. Then my mother decided that we shift in Mumbai, and she decided to buy a house in Sion. But after that our financial condition was very bad.”
She adds, “There was a time when there was no money even for food. Many times my younger sister had to survive a whole day on simply a pack of Parle-G biscuits. While buying goods from the market we used to buy oil, rice & pulses of 10 rupees each. We could afford only that much at that time. Then I decided that I will do something for my family! And I am very proud to say that at the age of 16 I bought my own car & at the age of 17 I completed the dream of my mother of having a home near the sea.”
